Do you provide funding to help get extra prints made?
Kim - The prints for FACE were from Kodak, they sponsored 5 for each film which will go on the tour so every filmmaker will walk away with 5 new prints. That was all Kodak’s doing, they helped us talk to the lab, got the prints done and got them to us on time, they been fantastic.Doug - The Bureau doesn’t fund, we don’t have money but we’ll help filmmakers in their funding attempts but actually funding them is not what we’re about. We’ll help the filmmaker at any point in their project or even in their career.Kim - To add on to that, we will look at projects at script stage, help the filmmaker work on tightening up the script and try to get them distributor friendly.

Have any of the films in this scheme gone through that process?
A couple have. Once we’ve got through the script stage with them or not we’ll give letters of support, push them in the direction of funders and endorse the projects. We help in that way but we don’t the money to fund them ourselves. It would be nice of course!Doug - And no, we won’t tell you what our favourite films are! (laughs)

I noticed you got a thank you on Sweet.
Doug - Did we?Kim - Oh yes, we did.Doug - Well that’s one then! (laughs)

What do think of Atlantic flights as a forum for shorts?
Well all 10 are actually going out on the Virgin Atlantic flights in front of the features. We’ve got a captive audience there for 5 to 8 hours at a time, it gives the passengers something to do and its a bit more engaging than just getting drunk and falling asleep. Its a good thing also because you get execs using those flights, its a good way to get spotted.

What‘s next for the Bureau?
Kim - Well our obvious priority is this, to get this out to the cinemas and to make sure this does well so we can carry on doing it next year and the year after. October time we are launching a couple of new things but our goal is to bring short filmmakers in one end and shipping them out as feature filmmakers the other end.
