Course - Directing performers posted 11 May 2001 Some places still on Directing Performers Workshop, on May 19th/20th at Remote Films near Clapham Junction. (This is held sometimes at Lux Centre sometimes at Remote Films). Thom Osborn runs this weekend workshop - based on the premise that it is valuable for the film maker to do some performing, to experiencethe difficulties and joys of that performing space in front of camera, in the workshop, as a way of developing the skills for working with actors. Work on exercises and short scenes; the performing state and its physicality; similar memories; a character's history and purpose; the change in a scene; the opportunity to take the role of director and of performer: and how a director helps or hinders. UKP110 waged; UKP50 unwaged. Adam and Joe are presenting a new series to be broadcast later this year showing the best of people's short self-produced movies. We want experimental, original & inventive ideas to show on e4.com and and channel 4. Stories, spoofs, rants, the funny, angry, sideways slices of life that you create yourself. Serious, sad, silly - whatever. The idea is that we'll showcase the best on both the web (in conjunction with E4.com and FilmFour.com) and then on TV on both E4 and Channel 4. 5 minutes is the maximum length of each contribution - the shortest is up to you. This is the series on which Adam & Joe were originally discovered. It was also the first place to feature Channel 4's new comedy duo Armstrong & Miller. The submissions can be on any format. It will offer interactive services in areas such as housing, education and health. But it will also include a rolling weekly video magazine made up primarily of around ten short factual films of between five and ten minutes in length.dktv has limited funds to commission new factual material from young directors, video journalists and camera operators who ideally should have some professional experience. This is an opportunity for creative and original storytelling but not, sadly, for experimental filmmakers. If you are interested, please email details of previous work and a c.v. to:info@dktv.co.uk. At this stage, please do not send any ideas. | Talented actors and actresses posted 11 May 2001 Brand new casting agency in Manchester seeks new clients.
