In a decision that spotlights Auntie's recent internal objectivity, Alan Bookbinder has been chosen to head the public broadcaster's religious programming department. The appointment of Bookbinder, a self professed "open-hearted agnostic," has enraged religious groups across the country, especially the million strong Evangelical Alliance of Britain.
In a sensible but clearly infuriated tone, the Alliance's head Joel Edwards fumed, "He is not an active member of any faith community," he continued "would the BBC appoint a head of sport who knows nothing about football? I think not." The BBC retorted in a statement that they backed Bookbinder's position and expected him to "to develop an editorial strategy which reflects spiritual life in the UK"
