intro
Jurassic Park 3 is still top of the UK box office but the warm weather over the weekend's saw its takings drop by almost half compared to it's debut. The third in the dino series has now taken just under £9m in the UK in 10 days. Swordfish is at number two, having made £1.5m during its first weekend in UK cinemas.

In the States meanwhile, Tim Burton's hugely anticipated remake of Planet of The Apes has debuted top of the box office. It made just under $70m on its first weekend on release, ahead of JP3 which dropped to second place with $22.5m.

JP3 has taken just under $125m in 12 days, crossing the $100m blockbuster benchmark mark in just over a week. Apes is now the second biggest opener of all behind The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which opened on $72m four years ago.

Planet of The Apes opens in the UK on August 17.
