Screendaily.com published figures from the British Film Commission on Thursday indicating that investment in UK shot Hollywood productions has sunk by two thirds.
Foreign productions set to shoot in the UK since the start of the year dropped from $320m last year to $109m as British studios suffered from the threat of, among other factors, the threat of an SAG strike.
2000's tally included some mammoth productions like $100m The Mummy Returns and the $120m Band Of Brothers but the figures are not as startling under the surface. They do not include potential record breaking projects Harry Potter
The cause for concern stems from the fact that delays caused by the threatened strike means that few productions were ready to commence once films wrapped in May and June to beat the threatened strike. There is now very little either in or going into production so the slump will get worse before it gets better.
