Dubbed Sci-fi London, the festival will screen classic titles such as the Warchowski Bros.' The Matrix, Terry Gilliam's, Twelve Monkeys and Paul Verhoven's seminal futuristic shoot'em-up Robocop. For the true Sci-fi geek the festival also lists: the five Planet of the Apes films, all the Babylon 5 movies, all the even numbered Star Trek films, the four Alien(s) films, all the Star Wars movies and a collection of DR Who, Blakes 7 and Space 1999 episodes. A spokesman for the festival was quoted on the official website (www.sci-fi-london.com) as saying, "We also have a few premieres and a world premiere, but we can't talk about these yet." The festival will take place at the Curzon cinema in Soho from February 1-3 and includes a short film programme, various talks on SFX, actualising ones Sci-fi project and screenwriting. The New Hope Award for the best new writers, artists and filmmakers will also be announced at the event. |
