The British actor who played the Nazi officer Weber in Captain Corelli''s Mandolin, David Morrissey, has sealed his directing career after FilmFour announced a first look deal for his work.
After roles in Corelli and Hilary and Jackie before embarking on his career as a director with three shorts in quick succession. The Rada trained actor was then asked to direct a two hour drama for the BBC called Sweet Revenge on the strength of his last short.
Morrissey's production company, Tubedale, is co-owned by his brother Paul, former Polygram exec Carl Clifton, writer Esther Freud and Stuart Hatwell. FilmFour have had close connections with Clifton - he has been their acting director of sales since the start of the year.
