On Tuesday the film community learned of the financial collapse and immediate closure of the Lux Cinema and all its services except for the popular bar next door.
The shocking and disappointing news spread fast throughout the film industry. The staff at the Lux were told to clear their desks and to leave the building for an indefinite period.
Apparently, the organisation has not gone into liquidation and creditors have not seized the building. However, the board of directors have been given an undisclosed period of time by the Arts Council of England to 'come up with a new business plan' without falling further into the red.
All film prints and videos currently at the facility are secure and it is also likely that all royalties are assured.
Ex - head of distribution and acting executive officer, Benjamin Cook will field any enquiries regarding bookings and the security of all material at the following addresses. bencook@lux.org.uk start@sundog.co.uk
