Warner Brothers have announced that they will pull back the release of Charlotte Gray to make it eligible for an Oscar nomination.
The Scottish film, produced by Ecosse (who made the Oscar nominated Mrs Brown) stars Cate Blanchett as a young Scot who fights the Nazis with the French resistance in WW2.
The film, adapted from Sebastian Faulks' gripping novel, will now be released before Christmas instead of early 2002.
The film's producer, Douglas Rae, told Scottish newspaper The Daily Record last week, "Clearly, if warner feel confident about it, that's fantastic."
