The thirteenth International Film Festival of Wales FilmFour Audience Award went to Tim Lyn's Welsh Language Film Eldra.
The film depicts one summer in life of young Eldra Jarman as she learns both about Romany ways and growing up. Directed by Lyn and produced by Bethan Eames, the screenplay was based on the true account of Eldra Jarman's life.
Having collaborated with scriptwriter Manon Eames, Eldra Jarman sadly died last year. The film starred Iona Jones and Gareth Roberts, who were picked from hundreds of schoolchildren to act in the film.
Angharad Jones Commissioning Editor for Drama for S4C said "I am delighted that Eldra has won the FilmFour Audience Award at the Festival - it is a tribute not only to Eldra Jarman herself, but to everyone responsible for bringing her story magically and alive to the screen. It is an intrinsically Welsh story, but it crosses all boundaries. It is fitting as well that it was a young girl from Bethesda who acted Eldra so naturally, and that the triple harp of Robin Huw Bowen added an unique dimension to director Tim Lyn's images. Congratulations to everyone."
Eldra is a Teliesyn production for S4C and will be broadcast on S4C on Christmas Day.
