The Film Council's Training Fund is backing ScreenLab 2002, an intensive new course offering producers, directors and development executives who work with scripts and scriptwriters the opportunity to hone their development skills. Taught by award-winning working writers, directors and producers, this scheme will begin on 17 January 2002 and will run throughout the year. MATCH was the first collaboration between the NPA and SW, devised and run by NPA's chief exec David Castro, co-chairs, writer-directors Charles Harris and Louis Melville and SW's Alan Denman. The scheme paired ten NPA producers with ten SW screenwriters. One such pairing was that of NPA member Wayne Henry with SW member Lloyd, who brought his psychological thriller screenplay CUCKOO. In addition, two MATCH scripts have been awarded free script development - the MEDIA II-backed Spooks, written by Denise Bareham and produced by Joe Grossi, and The Real Murray, written by Michael Chappell and produced by Mark Ezra.
