Scottish Screen Latest Lottery Awards

Scottish Screen have announced backing for a further five films, as follows;

PRODUCTION AWARDS UNDER £25K

Unscrew Hopscotch Films Ltd

Pr: Carolynne Kidd Wr/Dir: Clara Glynn

Awarded £24,000

Judy and Sam are splitting up. Unscrew takes place in the 24 hours before Judy moves out…sharing out their possessions and fighting over who gets what. When Judy wakes up early next morning she realises there’s just one more thing of Sam’s she’ll have to take with her!

PRODUCTION AWARDS OVER £25K

Blanketmen & Dreamers Asylum Films Ltd

£40,000 Production Award

A creative documentary exploring the combative role of European emigrants in the early US labour movement and questioning how we write history. Using archive photos and early silent film footage, together with eyewitness accounts, personal testimony and dramatised narrative voices we construct a forgotten moment in the Wild West

It’s Fitzcarraldo meets The Vital Spark. An out of work west Highland ferry crew navigate the upper reaches of the Amazon in a decommissioned vessel, bringing hope to street children there.

A film that will merge the past with the present bringing together survivors from a long forgotten World War II rescue that took place in the freezing Arctic seas for the first time since 1944, while paying honour to human compassion and heroism.
