Glasgow
Media Access Centre (G-MAC) is to be the Scottish
partner of the Film Council in the New Cinema
Fund Tier One initiative aimed at increasing
the number of digital short films in production
for the cinema market. G-MAC expects to launch
the Tier One funding initiative in Scotland
later this summer.
Two
other northern film agencies have been selected
as Tier One Film Council partners. They are
the Newcastle-based Northern Production Fund
and MIDA, the Moving Image Development Agency
in North West England.
New
Post
To
launch the scheme in Scotland, G-MAC is seeking
to appoint a co-ordinator to deliver five short
films per year. The post will be part-time,
for one year initially, but with potential for
growth.
G-MAC
are looking for at least two years experience
in production and candidates need to be interested
in developing new talent at grassroots level.
Flair and imagination are prerequisites, as
is the ability to manage tight budgets and meet
the contractual requirements of the Film Council's
New Cinema Fund.
The Glasgow Media Access Centre is Scotland's
largest open access facility with a membership
of 450 students, freelancers, unemployed, professionals,
companies and community groups.
G-MAC
runs the short film scheme Cineworks and offers
regular training courses, equipment and studio
hire, and produces its own broadcast commissions
and corporate and community videos.
