Tattoo - a Scottish short film directed
by Jules Williamson and produced by Arabella
Croft and Sara Putt for Three Sisters Films
was awarded Runner Up in the Best British Short
Film Award at the Edinburgh International Film
Festival.
Tattoo beat off competition from the
healthily funded Newfoundlands and Tartan
Shorts to be one of the front-runners at
the prestigious film festival. Production was
only made possible by the cast and crew who
worked for free after Scottish Screen turned
down the project.
The film was shot by Daf Hobson (Welcome
to Sarajevo; Births, Marriages and Deaths;
Othello).
The Film stars Ford Kiernan in one of his few
serious roles along with Louise Goodall (My
Name is Joe), Lynne Ramsey Jnr and William
Eadie (Ratcatcher).
The team behind the film are thrilled. "We
are amazed and delighted said Arabella Croft,
the films producer. "It seems the never-ending
battle to produce Tattoo has been well
and truly won. The festival has been a huge
success for us and we have made lots of important
contacts with many people interested in our
forthcoming work. I hope that one day we will
be able to pay back the kindness of all those
who made this film possible."
Scottish Screen have seen the error of their
ways and picked up Tattoo for festival
distribution. They also recently awarded the
team their first development award for the adaptation
of the Melvyn Bragg novel The Soldier's Return.
The book will be adapted by Nick Whitby who
wrote To the Green Fields Beyond, directed
by Sam Mendes at The Donmar Warehouse.
