Manchester Film Scoops Awards At Kino

Brian Percival's About a Girl, shot by a Manchester crew and starring 14 year old newcomer Ashley Thewlis from Manchester, picked up two awards sponsored by Kodak.

The film, produced by Janey De Nordwall and written by Julie Rutterford, won the Granada Award for Best North West Short Film and the City Life Best Short Film Award.

The UCI Award for Best British Short Film was won by Snow On Saturday directed by Imogen Stubbs, produced by Serena Carl & Gordon Procter. (Winner receives a cash award from UCI Cinemas) Runner up for this award was the film Left Turn directed by Sean Ellis, produced by Lene Bausanger.

The Granada Award For Best North West Short Film About a Girl, directed Brian Percival, produced by Janey De-Nordwall written by Julie Rutterford. (Winner receives a screening of film on Granada TV) Runner up for this award was the film Jump directed by Simon Fellows and produced by Janey De Nordwall.

The City Life Award for Best Short Film About a Girl , directed Brian Percival, produced by Janey De Nordwall written by Julie RutterfordRunner up for this award was the film Dead Flies Are No Good directed by Charlie Hendley, produced by Steve Ackhurst

The Screenwriters Store Award for Best British Script Rice Paper Stars, written by Andy Goddard directed by Andy Goddard. (Will receive the Final Draft Professional Screenwriting Software) Special Mentions by British jury
Special Jury Mention to director Christopher Morris for Three Minutes Of Torture The UCI Award for the Best International Short Film Easy Money (Argent Content) directed by Philippe Dussol (France) Runner up for this award was the film A'Donf... directed by Lalo Zazar (France)

The Screenwriters Store Award for Best International Script It’s Hard Killing Someone Even On A Monday directed by Eric Valette (France) (Will receive the Final Draft Professional Screenwriting Software) Runner up for this award was the film L’Ultima Questione (The Last Question) directed by Corrado Franco

Best International Experimental Short Film Parts directed by Antoine le Bos, produced by Marin Rosenstiehl & Richard Magnien (France) Runner up for this award was the one minute film Restricted directed by Jay Rosenblatt (USA).

The Festival Award for Best Newcomer goes to Rebecca Walsh (director) and Jacqueline Aherne (producer) for their first film Feline Persuasion They will also receive a copy of "How to Make Great short feature films" Runner up for this award was Newt (Luke) Legman for his first film The Fridge

Northern Film Network Award for best low budget short film went to Peephole directed by Samantha Harrie who receives a trophy and the book "How to Make Great Short Feature Films"
