A major international conference investigating
how networks have been established in Britain
and Europe for the development of artistic and
cultural practices in new media is to be held
at the CCA in Glasgow between 30 November -
1 December. The event includes contributions
from leading practitioners in net culture and
includes:
A premier screening of Desktop Icons - a New
Media Scotland touring programme curated by
Iliyana Nedkova exploring the cross over of
popular culture, media and new technologies.
Including work by Chris Cunningham, Mike Stubbs,
Torsten Lauschmann, Kristin Lucas, com&com
and many others
Panels and Presentations on Network Cultures,
Networked Arts Practice and Commissioning/Curating
Networks. Speakers include:
Eric Kluitenberg is a theorist, writer and
organiser on culture and technology. He is based
at De Balie - Centre for Culture and Politics,
Amsterdam
Josephine Bosma is an independent researcher
in the field of net culture. Her work has been
published in Mute, Telepolis, Ars Electronica
'97 catalogue and she was editor of the streaming
media section of the nettime book ReadMe.
Chris Byrne, Director, New Media Scotland
Carey Young, is an artist and IT consultant
based in London
Thomson/Craighead, are London based artists,
their work has recently been shown in Digital
ArtNow (Tate Britain) and 010101 at San Francisco
Museum of Modern Art
Duncan Campbell, Glasgow based artist and organiser
of Radio Tuesday
Heath Bunting, is an artist committed to building
open/democratic Communication systems, he has
worked on a range of artistic Projects using
the interent, pirate radio and fax/mail art
Simon Yuill, is currently completing his PhD
on the idea of the digital artifact at the Department
of Television and Imaging, Duncan of Jordanstone
College of Art and Design, Dundee
Eddie Berg, Director, Foundation for Art and
Creative Technology (FACT), Liverpool
Iliyana Nedkova, is an independent producer
and researcher of old and new media art events.
She has recently curated Blind Dating Technology,
Crossing Over and Desktop Icons.
