Secret Judgement Copies
Imagine a conspiracy between the Chief Justice and the Attorney General of the United States to deprive Julius and Ethel Rosenberg of due process? No imagination is needed as it really happened. In the summer of 1953, the U.S. Supreme Court became completely politicised over the case. "Secret Judgement" takes the viewer through the inner politics of a court in conflict, the battle between lawyers Dan Marshall and Fyke Farmer and the Rosenbergs' lawyer Emmanuel Bloch. Realizing too late that they were right, nothing can stop the Rosenbergs from their appointment with the electric chair in an orgasmic explosion of American injustice. Guilt or innocence is not the question. The treatment of the Rosenbergs at the hands of 15 federal judges and the wavering hypocrisy of the liberal William O. Douglas assures the execution will be swift and certain. An original take on a story we all know exposes the politics and hypocrisy of the Supreme Court and the anxiety for execution at any price. Shorts, Clips, Spoofs, Rants, Comic Slices of Life for Takeover TV
I am a researcher for 'World of Wonder,' a TV production company based in London. Currently we are producing a new series of, 'Takeover TV,' for E4. We are calling for creative geniuses, and want to give them a chance to have their work broadcast on national TV. It's basically people sending in their home movies so to speak. I am not talking 'You've Been Framed' sort of stuff. It's a bit more interesting than that. We are looking for short films, clips, skits, spoofs, rants, the funny, the angry, the camp, sideways, comic slices of life that you create yourself. Preferably quirky and innovative, but the subjects can be serious, sad, silly - whatever. It can be a video of performance art or comedians, animation, anything funny, different or interesting.
5 minutes max, Any Format
. We can also show extracts of longer work. It will first be shown on E4, then eventually Channel 4, but there will also be an ongoing website.
Tapes should be received by 31 August. Send tapes to:
Takeover TV

Views on an East London Film Festival
We are planning an East End Film Festival and would like to hear from filmmakers about what they would like to see. There are kind of a number of things: Venues - Mainstream and others. Which audiences are we trying to reach / How do we involve the local community who are currently excluded from film exhibition/ How do we attract the industry. Programming - What and do we need a theme? Shorts/Archive/Features etc. The Image of the Festival, How the Festival is marketed and at who, How are we different to other festivals happening locally or. are we partners? A number of funding applications have been submitted which have been quite specific in certain areas, but I have, hopefully, left things as open as possible. If the applications are successful we would appoint a director/programmer but would expect this person to work with local filmmakers. There is an initial "ideas" meeting this Thursday at 10am at the Brady. If you would like to come along, please give me a call or reply to this email. But if you cant make it there will be others once/if we have the dosh and I would be grateful for your thoughts!
