BBC America New UK Drama Lineup

 

BBC AmericaBBC America is bringing four new dramas to the network in co-production with BBC Drama and UK indies Tiger Aspect, Shed Productions and Hartswood Films.


 

Premiering in June will be Shed's Waterloo Road. The show, from the makers of Footballers' Wives, tells the story of an inner-city high school and its teachers, students and parents. It is currently airing on the BBC in the UK.

Other productions lined up for 2007 are Tiger Aspect's Robin Hood, a new take on the classic story written and exec produced by Dominic Minghella.

Also from Tiger Aspect is Low Winter Sun, a police drama set in Edinburgh, written by Simon Donald. It is executive produced by Greg Brenman and Kathryn Mitchell and will premiere in late 2006 or early 2007.

Finally, Jekyll, written by Steven Moffatt (Coupling), is a modern version of Jekyll and Hyde, in which Jekyll is now married. Jekyll is a Hartswood Films production executive produced by Beryl Vertue, Steven Moffat, Jane Tranter, John Yorke and Kathryn Mitchell.

The new programmes add to BBC America's upcoming copros Shakespeare Retold, Love Soup and Sharpe's Challenge. The channel is currently repositioning itself towards a younger audience and recently acquired Kudos's time-travel drama Life on Mars.
