Scary Movie 4 opened number one in North America grossing over US$41 million, shattering records by becoming the highest grossing Easter weekend opening ever and giving the film the largest opening for a film released by The Weinstein Company.

V for Vendetta, starring Natalie Portman, has topped the North American box office chart in its opening week. The political thriller was produced by the Wachowski brothers, who made The Matrix.
