The Edinburgh Pitch: 15-17 June 2010
The annual Edinburgh Pitch is the only international pitching forum in Scotland open to all filmmakers, UK and abroad, looking to produce a feature length documentary. After a pitching and development workshop, projects will be pitched formally in front of a carefully selected panel of international and UK commissioning editors, sales agents and producers.
The workshop is aimed at independent filmmakers and companies who are developing and raising finance for creative documentaries (52'-90') and thinking about international co-productions. The Edinburgh Pitch is part of Bridging the Gap 7, funded by Scottish Screen, Skillset, BBC Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Edinburgh College of Art.
Already confirmed for 2010 : Doris Hepp, ZDF-Arte (Germany); Greg Sanderson, BBC Storyville (UK); Simon Kilmurry, POV (USA); Autlook Filmsales (Austria); Scottish Screen (UK)
Doc in Progress Sessions : 17-19 June 2010
Up to six 20 minute rough cuts will be selected and screened during Doc in Progress. All UK and foreign filmmakers completing a creative documentary (52'-90') can apply. It will allow each filmmaker to receive feedback from professionals and Doc Week observers, focusing on creative decision making and editing. These consultancies will be a tremendous opportunity for filmmakers to take their documentary to the next level.
Docs 360 : 19-20 June 2010
Docs 360 is a new 9-month programme run by Initialize Films on how to use cross-platform techniques to promote, finance and distribute a documentary film. Doc Week will host a one day workshop offering a practical guide to setting up a campaign, building a community, raising finance online, keeping the community hooked and 360 promotion and distribution, followed by a one day pitching session for 10 producer/filmmaker teams. Docs 360 is funded by Skillset.
From 16-20 June all events are open to Observers who have purchased a Doc Week Pass. Doc Week participants can also register as delegates to the Edinburgh International Film Festival at preferential rates.
