Mr Bean creator Rowan Atkinson will be in Cannes during May filming the second feature-length film about the adventures of the internationally famous comedy character he created with Richard Curtis. Bean II is a Working Title Films production, in association with Tiger Aspect
Bean will indeed make the trip from London to the Riviera for a simple holiday in the sun, but as usual, havoc follows in his wake wherever he goes. This time the Bean misadventures culminate in an unscheduled and riotous screening of his own video diary at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film will be directed by Steve Bendelack (The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse) from a screenplay by Robin Driscoll and Hamish McColl, based on a story by Simon McBurney.
Mr. Bean was first launched on UK television by Tiger Aspect in 1990 and Rowan Atkinson became an international star thanks to his grumpy and almost silent character who seduced over 200 countries around the world. Mr Bean's first big film appearance, Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie, was also produced by Working Title. It grossed over €223m worldwide. Universal Pictures are to release the new film worldwide.
